Type 1 or juvenile diabetes is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. Tyler Khoranoff’s daughter Presley was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just 19 months of age. Tyler is Operations Manager for Grangetto’s. Each year Tyler’s wife, Gretchen, participates in the “Walk to Cure Diabetes,” a program through JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). Presley’s life changed FOREVER on the day she was diagnosed. Her life changed from being a kid with a carefree life, to one with finger pricks, insulin injections, carbohydrate counting, highs, and lows. Wanna ready my thoughts? Of course you do! JOIN or DONATE to our walk team! Living with Diabetes... It's hard to know where to start a letter for fund raising after you've been doing it for a while. There comes a point where people know your story, they know why you do the fund raising you do, and they know who you're doing it for. Do stories loose their meaning after they've been heard so many times? I sit here thinking of words that can express the desperation I feel as a mother, watching my youngest child live with a disease that most people find dismissible. In fact, living with a disease that most people wouldn't or don't even consider a disease but an inconvenience, or perhaps a life style adjustment. But after listening to another mother who knows where I'm coming from at the latest JDRF lunch i attended with Presley, it was so clear how difficult our children's life really is. How much we all take for granted OUR life. Our healthy life of not having to live day to day with a plan A and a plan B.
