We have all seen the one yard in every neighborhood that simply has trouble keeping up with everyone else. The shrubs are overgrown. The weeds are out of control. The grass has long since died. The entire yard is an eyesore. More than an eyesore; these yards are a crime! What are neighbors to do? Enter the Garden Police – Shirley Bovshow and Michael Glassman – landscape designers with a talent for taking a seemingly hopeless plot of dirt and dead grass and turning it into a beautiful, heavenly escape. Bovshow and Glassman are the divine intervention needed to solve the crime of an ugly yard.

The Garden Police is entertaining and educational. Each episode locates one yard that is out of control. Bovshow and Glassman rush in and issue citations to the homeowners and allow them to tell their side of the story regarding how their yard reached this point of desperation. Neighbors are also interviewed and allowed to express their concerns for the entire situation. Then the homeowners are sentenced to hard labor under the direct supervision of Bovshow and Glassman. They become an integral part in justice being served by turning around their crime ridden yard. They dig, plant, and pull weeds…whatever it takes…, until their yard is beautifully landscaped to perfection.
