1. I will build a patio or deck (they're easier to build than you think).

2. I will install a water feature (it can be cheaper than you think).

3. I will have limbing work done on any trees that present a hazard.

4. I will define my landscape design tastes and implement them.

5. I will grow some plants that will enhance my fall landscape design.

6. I will provide maximum visual interest for the winter season.

7. I will stop complaining about watering and do something to reduce water usage.

8. I will stop complaining about mowing the lawn and do something to reduce lawn care needs.

9. I will stop complaining about garden pests and take preventive measures against them.

10. I will plant a fruit tree.

11. I will buy at least one quality tool.

12. I will plant annuals.

13. I will be ready when spring hits.

14. I will remember to plant spring bulbs in the fall.

15. I will keep a garden journal.

16. I will mulch all flower, shrub and vegetable beds to conserve water, retain cooler soil, and prevent weeds.

17. I will plant at least one vegetable crop (green beans, corn, peppers, tomatoes, etc.) in my garden.

18. I will add one new "feature" (bed, bench, statue, arbor, etc.) to my garden this year.

19. I will put up a bird feeder or plant for butterflies.

20. (I've saved the most important New Year's resolution for last:) I will fully enjoy my yard, rather than being a slave to its upkeep. I will "stop to smell the roses.”
