Gardening Tips for April
There's much to do in April. Spring is the number one gardening time of year.
Spring is here! Plant vegetables, flowers and bedding plants. Spruce up the garden for colorful displays and future harvests.
Now is the time to clean up winter weeds in the lawn. Lilly Miller Weed & Feed fertilizes while controlling broadleaf weeds like bur clover, dandelions, oxalis and many others.

Fertilize everything! Best Triple Pro 15-15-15 is a multi-purpose formula that can be used on ground covers, trees, shrubs and lawns.
Feed azaleas and camellias with Cottonseed Meal and top dress with Worm Gold Plus, an organic product that contains worm castings along with kelp and rock mineral.
Watch for snail and slug damage. Treat for snails & slugs in vegetable gardens and ornamentals with Ortho Bug-Geta Snail & Slug Killer or Corry’s Slug & Snail Pellets or Meal. Copper snail bands offer protection around trunks of fruit trees. Use Monterey Sluggo around domestic animals and wildlife.
For broadleaf weed control in turf without fertilizing, use Bayer All-In-One Weed Killer. Kills over 200 broadleaf weeds in lawns plus crabgrass without harming your lawn.
Replace old, worn shovels with Ames Falcon Shovels. Available in pointed or square models. |
For insects and diseases on trees & shrubs apply Bayer 3-in-1 Insect, Disease & Mite Control. It will give 30 days of protection.
Clean out beds of old leaves which may harbor disease. Rakes such as Flexrakes get in between shrubs easier.
Fertilize lawns with Best Turf Supreme 16-6-8. Lawns should be fertilized every 4 – 6 weeks.
Feed palms this month with Gro-Power Premium Palm & Tropical Plant Food 9-3-9. It contains magnesium & manganese for greening up palms plus humic acid.
