Garden Trivia

Plants Just Dying to Please

The flower gardens of several generations past were beautiful and well planned, but they were also functional. As well as flowers, they contained the herbs that added life to an otherwise drab meal or aided in the preserving of foods for the winter. They also had the medicinal herbs that played such an important part in the life of the entire family. There was usually one other section of the border garden, the “dye bed” where the plants that produced colors were grown.
